marooned

If I was marooned on a desert island, although it's completely impractical, I would want this outfit ~ one of my very favorite dresses and my favorite hat! Just to remind me what civilized life was like! {and so I could play the role of Ginger!}
I bought this dress a couple seasons back at Bebe and still just love the unique cut and details

The faux crock trim pairs beautifully with my garnet jewelry and maroon boho hat!

At my desk editing pics for my blog! I love the digital age from creation to publication is so fast!

There's something about Mary

I happened upon Mary McDonald's gorgeous new book "The Allure of Style", and was just thrilled to browse through this beautiful book of classical interiors! This LA based designer definitely gets the SPECKtacular seal of approval!

Roberto Cavalli's rock star style!

I would have a seriously difficult time choosing just one of these amazing creations designed by Roberto Cavalli. For me, these are the most amazing things I've seen all year! And this fantastic photo campaign really does them justice!

Laetitia Casta, Joan Smalls and Malgosia Bela for Roberto Cavalli Spring 2011 Ad Campaign. The campaign was photographed by Mert & Marcus.

Vintage Pairing

I've mentioned before that 1stdibs.com (one of my favorite websites), is an amazing source for design inspiration. It is also a great resource for decadent fashion and fabulous jewelry. Here is a pairing I selected for today!
This 1980's Mary McFaddon Color block dress in lovely sherbet shades, pairs nicely with this 1940's steel beaded and rhinestone evening bag made in France for the Park Ave. dress shop Martha. In its day, Martha was "the" dress shop for the carriage trade in New York City!

Too much green for just one day!

"For each petal on the shamrock,  this brings a wish your way ~ good health, good luck and happiness for today and every day".

As you can see, I can't wait for St. Pat's day to get decked out in green ~ its just too happy of a color to keep hidden in the closet all year!

happy st. pat's day!

* Turkish Delight *

I awoke one morning with a "taste" for adventure . . . .

. . .  out in the garden, I stumbled upon a bottle of pink elixir, feeling daring ~ I drank the whole thing! I sat on the grass and a sac of candy fell out of my pocket ~ to my surprise it was TURKISH DELIGHT ~ right out of Narnia, and tell me, who can resist Turkish Delight?

before I knew it, my head began to spin and bright lights began to sparkle in front of my eyes . . .

I awoke from a slumber to find myself under a beautiful canopy, a cherry tree in full bloom ~ feeling refreshed and got up to explore . . .

around the corner I came across some interesting structures built into the hillside . . so I decided to have a look inside . . .

I traveled into the hillside and came out another side to find myself in Istanbul!

I had read of the majestic Blue Mosque ~ Hagia Sophia, and its legendary splendor . . .

Inside I was absolutely awestruck by this architectural masterpiece!
When I awoke in my own backyard, this image was etched into my minds~eye!

Its aMAZING!

Ever since I was a child I have dreamt of having a labyrinth maze inside my garden, a place I could wander away the afternoons and get lost in my imagination. One day I'll have the opportunity to design my own, but until then, here are a few lovely mazes I can dream about ~ coupled with one of my favorite songs!
