the long climb
By climbing, I am referring to endurance, struggle, hard work. If you have ever had the experience of struggling for something you really wanted ~ you know how sweet the feeling is when after all of your efforts you are rewarded with your prize. And that is what it feels like, because anything you really value comes with a cost.

invest in a solid foundation
I am so grateful my parents afforded me the luxury of going to college and then the freedom to go into the world unencumbered by student loans. It allowed me to take job opportunities that I might not have, had I been worried about loan payments on top of rent and car payments, etc. It helped me build a foundation that enabled me to withstand many storms that knocked down the walls I had built, because I still had a solid footing underneath me to stand on and rebuild.

Going with the flow
I have been swimming against the current all day today and it's gotten me nowhere! My iMac has been acting screwy all weekend and this morning it just didn't want to cooperate at all. After frogging around for a couple hours ~ I finally succumbed and brought it to the Genius Bar. I guess the lesson there is somethings are just out of our control and we have to accept that and go with the flow.

Something wonderful!
When there is a bunch of really difficult stuff going on in your life, it's important to stay positive. What I try to do ~ is imagine all these great outcomes to the situation ~ and I think it really helps me deal with things. I mean the worst might happen, but there's no sense planning on it ~ right?

☆ we are stardust ~ we are golden ☆
We are all so much alike, however it seems as though our differences are more susceptible to definition than our similarities. We will all face similar personal struggles throughout this lifetime and we all eventually die. It is our attitude that sets us apart. We can chose to gaze upon the stars in all their golden splendor or we can complain that there are too many or they are too bright!

Saving grace
Sir Francis Bacon wrote “If a man be gracious and courteous to strangers, it shows he is a citizen of the world, and that his heart is no island cut off from other lands, but a continent that joins to them.” My grandmother embodied this grace that he speaks of, and I have been trying my best to emulate her all of my life!

Josephine, my mother's mother past away over twenty years ago, but she left such a strong imprint on my heart. She was a citizen of the earth in every way and probably my favorite person I have ever known. She was an absolute joy to be around and I think most everyone who knew her felt the same way. I feel so blessed to have had someone in my life that I can say that about. Thank you Grandma!

Stop and look around!
I have days when I just can't seem to get myself inspired. I'll dwell on something minor, procrastinate on a project or just have a case of the blahs. But it usually just takes a walk out in nature to realize this too shall pass, for life has so much to offer. So the next time you are in a funk - take yourself out on a walk, get some endorphins firing, look around and you'll be reminded how amazing life is!
