I think I have finally gotten mad enough at myself for not writing for the past couple months (or accomplishing much else for that matter). So today I am going to write something, make something, quit procrastinating my life away . . . so I can feel a little better about myself! (because honestly, I've been a little blue).

Kindness

Often times when I lay awake in bed, reviewing the events of the day, I will find myself reminiscing about a tiny act of kindness that made my whole day. A nice message someone left me, or a few encouraging words. I think we tend to forgot the big impact that small kindnesses can have. Mark Twain captured the essence of kindness quite eloquently when he said, "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see".

The most valuable thing in the world

That would be . . .  Well, I guess it depends who is asking! I think freedom is the most valuable thing in the world. Freedom allows us to be who we want to be and that allows us to be happy, productive and at peace.

the land of MAKE BELIEVE!

Life is all about make believe. Parents and teachers make us believe things when we are young. We make ourselves believe things as we learn new stuff and then we make others believe things about ourselves?! It's all just MAKE BELIEVE!

Be true to the one and only YOU! Just remember these four simple principles . . .

where's the happy ending?

I got to thinking, that listening to fairy tales before bed may have contributed to some of my childhood fears. If you look at the plots in most of these tales ~ you'll see some horrible tragedy unfolding. For example Jack & Jill? Humpty Dumpty? Little Red Riding-hood? It sets us up thinking this world is a dangerous and scary place. I mean, we are going to find that out soon enough ~ why scare us as kids?

traveling at the speed of sound

One lesson that I have learned through repeated mistakes, is that you can never take back something that you've said. The words that come out of your mouth become part of the permanent fabric of our memories, and they are so powerful. 

~ my secret garden ~

This is where I go when I want to get away from the world ~ a magical, beautiful place that I have created in my mind where I feel safe, relaxed and content. Someday I'll live in a garden like this . . .  

life is fleeting

I read the other day that some species of butterflies only live for a couple days ~ and I tried to image what that would be like to come into the world ~ to be born ~ and then expire just a couple days after. And it made me think, if I had only a couple days to live, flying through the air with the most beautiful wings, from flower to flower and letting the wind carry me away ~ wouldn't be so bad!


I really LOVE purple ~ I can see why it's the color of kings ~ it is so flattering!

and when you die you wake up . . .

I like to toss around ideas in my head about what our reality really is and what it will be like after our bodies die and we travel the galaxy at the speed of light*!
