on the rocks . . .

Light blue ~ the color of the sky ~ is my color! I picked up this little dress at Wasteland in Los Angeles a few years back. There was no tag inside that revealed its origin and from the construction I could tell it was hand made. But when I slip this little jem on ~ I feel as though, it had to have been made just for me!!

beach pebble bath

My friend Kim Kelly, the talented designer/builder just completed a gorgeous remodel of a small bath in a Laguna beach bungalow. She asked me to come and photograph it for her portfolio and I was so impressed with how much style and character she was able to infuse into this tiny space. Her client, James Gruden (brother of the renown football coach Jon "Chucky" Gruden), asked her to create a clean updated look that brought the beach inside. I think she nailed it!

The ocean and beach pebbles were Kim's main inspirations. She chose to use glass and mirror to represent the water, and took a literal interpretation of beach pebbles for the flooring - right into the shower! Kim has incredible attention to detail and over sees every aspect of the project! Now it's onto the Master Bathroom!

stormy seas

February tends to be our chilliest month here in Southern California ~ especially at the beach, however it gives me a chance to wear some of my East Coast styles!

This whole ensemble was built around this boiled wool, dove grey jacket by ~ Fake London, I paired it with a charcoal turtleneck sweater by ~ express, a plaid mini by ~ F21, a vintage leather hat and these killer boots by ~ Frye.

Winter Blues

The title refers to my outfit - not my mood! The sun is shining, but there is a nip to the February air so I decided to do a twist on the classic navy blazer and denim!

Blazer ~ Zara (with vintage buttons added by me), Asymmetrical pinstripe vest ~ Karen Millen, Moto jeans ~ Wax Jeans, and Hat ~ is reversible and I must of removed tag.

home sweet home!

I love to travel, but it is always wonderful to come home to my sleepy little beach town where I have lived for the past 12 years ~ Laguna Beach
Main Beach ~ in the heart of the village

Pacific Coast Hwy

The beaches are always packed in the summer

So many serene vistas

Coming into town ~ I love all the hillside homes

A quiet stretch of beach in February

Palms growing out of the cliffs

Enjoying the sand year round!

Local wildlife

I feel so blessed to live here!! xoxo

local color

Whether I am shopping for a client, strolling through galleries on an art~walk, or just out and about, I always have my eyes on the look-out for interesting art. Something that tells a story I have not heard before, or mixes color in a way that my eyes can not resist. The paintings below are pieces that caught my eye (and then were caught by the lens of my camera!)
This picture is all about the story! Hanging at the Canter's Art Center at Stanford University.  It is a
portrait of the Stanford Family by Thomas E Hill in 1878 ~ I particularly love the bear rug on the grass!

This lovely multi-media piece by Ingrid Dee Magidson is made with several layers of glass that have
been painted on and embellished with bits of sheet music, butterfly wings and lace! Her work can be found
at the Marion Meyer Gallery in Laguna Beach

This glamorous piece by Andy Moses is even more amazing in person. The photo is not distorted,
he is known for stretching his canvases in unusual shapes, this one bows inward at the center.
His work can be found at the Peter Blake Gallery in Laguna Beach

This captivating, albeit somewhat disturbing piece, is another interesting example of mixed-media,
Gold leaf, cellophane, etc., I saw this at the Fendi showroom on Robertson in LA - during last years artwalk.
(I regret I did not get the artist information)

This is an eye catching oil that I picked up a couple years ago at a local consignment shop.
It was not signed, however I felt the artist had an original style and I love the way they
captured the movement of this bird in flight!

This painting I found at the Laguna School of Art and Design's gallery. It was done by a student, and I can
not read the name noted beside it, however I felt they have a great understanding of  lighting as well as
a good sense of composition and ability to capture drama!

This interesting piece by Margo Selski is titled Machine in the garden, I found her style
and subject matter drew me right in, and it's a painting I like to look at again and again.
You can find more of her work at Glass Garage Fine Art on Robertson Blvd. in LA

This piece is another work I did not get artist information on, but it was so "out-there" I couldn't resist
snapping a photo. I found this during the Los Angeles Downtown Brewery Artwalk ~ that happens
twice a year and is a great venue for up and coming artists to strut their stuff!
