Little Lady Fauntleroy

I was at the bank yesterday and the lady next to me in line said "I like your outfit, it's like Little Lord Fauntleroy!" Well, I had heard of this book, but didn't know the plot or how my get-up related to it. But after just a few minutes of Googling ~ low and behold, there is a most definite influence of the little lord going on here! As it turns out, the The Fauntleroy suit, so well-described by Burnett and realized in Reginald Birch's detailed pen-and-ink drawings, created a fad for formal dress for American middle-class children of the late 1800's: "What the Earl saw was a graceful, childish figure in a black velvet suit, with a lace collar, and with lovelocks waving about the handsome, manly little face, whose eyes met his with a look of innocent good-fellowship." (Little Lord Fauntleroy So, if I may, I present to you my un-intentional Little Lord Fauntleroy suit!

Party time!

It's important to celebrate the special times in life. They don't come around all that often and you've got to really appreciate them when they do! I got some really great news this week and I am so very grateful and extremely HAPPY!! xox

*** it's my 1 year anniversary ***

SPECKtacular Style is one year old today! Hmm, might be time for a facelift!

Lost at Sea

I'm back into somewhat of a routine again with my writing ~  well, really trying ~ as it's my top new years resolution.  So my story takes place in an archipelago ~ a string of islands in a far away sea. My characters find themselves lost at sea and so I've been finding myself ponder what that would feel like and what I might find!

Rainy day Joy!

Waking up early on a rainy Saturday morning with absolutely nothing to do is one of my favorite very things! No sunshine trying to convince me to get dressed and come out to play. No prior commitments to keep me watching the clock. Nothing to do but daydream and toy around the house like a little child! Yippeee!

The patience of a survivor

When you are passionate about something ~ the time just melts away. We all have talents and interests that we can loose ourselves in. The things that really make life worth living. Some of us figure out what makes us tick early in life ~ and for others it may take a lifetime. But if you never stop exploring those things you are naturally curious about ~ sooner or later ~ what you are will come to you. I think the trick is surviving childhood (and early adulthood) without loosing the child!

break from routine

Getting away from my routine really allowed me to put things into perspective. Sometimes it is just so easy to get caught up in what is right in front of you. Yet when you step away, get some fresh stimulation and see whats going on outside your door, those problems or issues that seemed so pressing can just ~ disappear!

❤ Harajuku

As it turns out ~ Harajuku (原宿 "meadow lodging") is an area near Tokyo (Harajuku Station).
Every Sunday, Japanese girls dressed-up in the likes of gothic lolitas, visual keis, and decoras spend their afternoons there frolicking in one of a kind fashions. It's like the fashion district of Tokyo. And now with the help of style sensation ~ Gwen Stefani and her new clothing line for Target ~ Harajuku mini, their "fatal attraction to cuteness" is sweeping the globe!
